Friday, July 25, 2014 Iherb Haul

Venturing out to organic food may be confusing as there are many things to learn and understand. From reading packaging labels to finding out the health benefits in your food intake, it certainly took me a while to get the hang of it. If you are serious in adapting a healthier lifestyle, it will worth your time, money and effort.

I was on the hunt for organic food but had no idea where to get my food supplies from as certain products from our local supermarkets can be quite costly. Only through my best friend's recommendation, I got to know about Iherb and it is now the only shopping site I get most of my organic food from.

1. Spectrum Essentials Chia Seeds (SGD$12)

Chia seeds are added to my diet now because these seeds are packed with so many nutritions such as fiber, protein, Omega-3 fatty acids (even more than Salmon) and loaded with antioxidants. These seeds expand in water causing a gel-like texture and because of all the fiber, it increases fullness and help you to eat less calories. Chia seeds are also easy to incorporate into your diet as they can be eaten raw, added to yogurt / fruit juice / porridge / cereal and even baked goods! Very good substitution for eggs too.

2. Arrowhead Mills Organic Quinoa (SGD$7)

Quinoa is pronounced as Keen-wa and now we got the pronunciation right, let's move on. They looks like grain but they are actually seeds and are packed with iron and fiber. As I no longer eat white rice, quinoa now becomes a staple for me. My dinner nowadays would consist of cooked quinoa and boiled vegetables and I love it!

3. Simply Organic Parsley (SGD$4.50)

Yes, I know fresh parsley is always the best but sometimes fresh herbs just aren't always available in supermarkets and it isn't really that practical to get a bunch when all you need is just a few. So, I got some dried parsley which is pretty self explanatory as they can be added to soups, dressings, soups etc...

4. St. Dalfour Organic Golden Mango Green Tea (SGD$4.15)

I am not really a coffee person but an absolute tea lover - need to have my tea every morning and night! To try out a new flavour, I got some mango green tea which taste lovely. Deinfetly need to re-order this when it runs out.
